The
Global Club continued with Kitty Cochrane and Dolly Callas facilitating. It
continued to be drop-in, twice monthly, during lunch recess.
Accomplishments:
International Potluck for Meet the Teacher night in September
Made Italian pasta with a pasta maker
Made Irish potato cakes for St. Patrick's Day
Made fried bananas from Costa Rica
Played a co-operative game and talked about competition versus co-operation
Had an anti-racism door decorating contest for Anti-Racial Discrimination Day, March 21
Made calendars with student art and observations about Global issues. Donated the $90 proceeds to Pueblito
Held a "Name the Elephant" contest, and raised $20 for our "adopted" elephant
Purchased a big box of multicultural books, crayons, and co-operative games for the library for $200 from proceeds from school wide bottle recycling (thanks to Nancy Ball for recycling!)
Held a bake sale $40 for Popsicles for students for POP (Protect Our Planet) Day
POP Day - with school yard clean-up and garbage-less lunch
Distributed information on water issues to teachers for World Oceans Day

Doors decorated for Anti-Racism Day, March 21
Other school projects:
School collected pennies for the Food Bank, aiming to outweigh our principal, Bob Smith. We suceeded, in a dramatic event in an assembly.
Chantal Collin organized Jump Rope for Heart, with $2,500 raised for the Heart and Stroke Foundation
Kitty Cochrane's grade 2 class had a Used Toy Sale and raised $90 for Unicef
Charlie Schrama organized our school's annual Terry Fox walk. $200 raised.
The school donated books to Unity House (women's shelter)
Nancy Ball's class raised money to Adopt a Whale
Kitty Cochrane's grade 2 class had an African Market and raised $70 to have trees planted in Africa, through Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief
