The
Global Education Club
|
1994-1995 |
This
year there was a tight-knit group of friends: Justine, Natasha,
Shea, Veronica, Jill Marie.
They were very organized and dynamic, and met every
second weeks with Kitty Cochrane facilitating.
Accomplishments:
Raffled a chocolate house and donated $9 to Jesuit Center for Social Faith and Justice for Guatemalan refugees
Made and sold 100 calendars on Global Education issues, and raised $45 for Amnesty International (and they asked for our originals for their own distribution!)
Wrote and videoed "The Glass Rap" for a Consumer Glass competition, encouraging curb-side pick up of recyclable glass
Collected 35 pairs of used eyeglasses for sharing with needing eyes in developing countries through Canadian Foundation for World Development
Kitty Cochrane's Grade 2/3 raised $65 for "adopted" Elephant in Kenya through sale of baking and book marks
Kitty Cochrane's 2/3 class raised $50 through used book sale for planting trees in Africa, with Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief
