Accomplishments:

Collected 62 pairs of eyeglasses to be sent to needing eyes in developing countries via Canadian Federation for World Development
Collected food school-wide for Food bank for World Food Day, October 16
Ordered films from Oxfam for staff/students for World Food Day
Distributed materials for the Cookie Game (demonstrating unfair distribution of food and wealth) for World Food Day to each classroom
Helped with Unicef advertising at Halloween. The Marcellus family coordinated the Unicef boxes.
Sold poppies for Remembrance Day
Raised $69 for Pueblito with a raffled Christmas wreath
Raised $83 for Salvation Army homeless shelter with a Valentine's bear raffle
For International Women’s Day, March 8, we distributed sheets through the school asking what life would be like if we'd been born the other gender. Both students and staff participated - the results were very interesting!
Made a construction paper rainbow out of every student's traced hand for Anti-Racial Discrimination Day, March 21, and hung it in the gym so parents could view it during Parent Teacher interviews, celebrating the many colours of our school
Raised money for World Wildlife Federation with Mother’s Day carnation sale
Raised $52 for Sierra Legal Defence Fund with Father’s Day chocolate sucker sale
Distributed 2,000 tree seeds to students in the district for Earth Day
