Accomplishments:

Had our annual Food Bank drive for For World Food Day on October 16
Donated 70 books to Santa’s Anonymous
Student club member Anna Rushdy showed pictures of her trip to Egypt
We wrote letters to City Council asking for more recycling. At this point in Ft. McMurray, there was no pick-up nor drop off options for recycling. Councillor Phil Meagher visited us and asked for our advice to take back to the Mayor.
For February 7-13 White Cane Week, we handed out bright yellow Braille rulers, information packets to teachers, and donated $20 to CNIB through a used book sale
We donated $60 to the Salvation Army homeless shelter from the used book sale
For International Women’s Day March 8, we each donated a small bag of candy to a big jar. School students paid a loonie to guess the total number of candies, and the winner got the whole jar! The $53 earned was donated to our local women's shelter, Unity House
Teacher and club facilitator Kitty Cochrane received and Anti-Racism award from the Baha’i Community for her work with the Global Club
For Earth Day we did a school-yard clean-up, bulletin board display on garbage, gave information to teachers on environmental care, and made our own recycled paper
For Anti-Racism Day we did our annual face painting, debriefed the rude comments we got, and discussed how to stop racism.
We collected 40 pairs of used eyeglasses and sent them to people needing them in other countries.
$71 raised from a bake sale went to Adopt a Whale, named Salty. Our motto was "Buy a sweet for Salty!"
We
donated $41 to CODE, assisting in international literacy.
