Global Club Accomplishments
-
For
World Food Day, our school brought in
1600 items
We did a "Jelly Bean Game" that helped us learn about why
some people have more than enough food and resources, and some haven't
enough.
- We
collected used computer inkjet and empty laser cartridges for recycling.
- Caitlyn
Solecki collected used batteries to be properly disposed of, instead of the toxic chemicals ending up in our
landfill.
- We collected
used eyeglasses for countries where needing eyes can use the glasses.
- Proceeds
from recycled water bottles
were donated to the Baptist Church Soup
Kitchen. The Ewashko family matched the donation.

fieldtrip in November to two local helping organizations, the Water Treatment
Plant and the S.P.C.A.

shared Hanukah with us, with dreidles, a menorah, and potato latkes.
- We raised $100
through our Used Book Sale, and sent donations to the CNIB, to
CODE to help literacy in other countries, Canadian Physicians for Aid and Relief, and to our local SPCA.
- Students
worked on individual helping projects while Ms Cochrane was away having her
baby. Laura, Joshua and other students from Grade 5 raffled off prizes with
proceeds going to the Food Bank.
- The club had
their annual Anti-Racism face painting exercise.
- We raised $140 for orphaned children
(SOS Children's Villages) through a candy jar raffle (699 candies!
- In lieu
of receiving club medals at the end of the year, club members and our school
donated the cost of them ($50) to the Children's Wish Foundation.
