Global Club Accomplishments
This year they :
Led
the school in a food bank drive, collecting 2600 items.
Led the school in a collection of hats, mitts, and
scarves for Coats For Kids, collecting 210 items.
Celebrated Ramadan and learned about Egypt with Aya &
tried food.
Learned about global distribution of food through the "Gum
Drop Game" for World Food Day.
Tasted yummy Italian baking for World Food Day from Analisa.
Donated $56 from recycling for endangered animals with
World Wildlife Fund.
Raised $70 for Foster Parents Plan through a "guess
the number of candies" raffle.
Had two used books sales, with $200 going to CNIB
and CODE
Purchased a worm bucket and dirt for composting in
a classroom.
Raised $133 through a craft, bake and chip sale to
raise funds for rehabilitating child soldiers through Unicef.
Celebrated anti-racism day with strange face
painting.
Purchased An Inconvenient Truth DVD for the
school library.
Purchased recycling buckets for more classrooms.
In lieu of year end medals, we donated $25 to
Tarahumara Hospital, for indigenous people of the Copper Canyons, in Mexico.
3K Activities &
fundraisers. We:
Learned about Islam and Ramadan with a teacher and V.P.
from the Islamic school. We ate baklava, flat
bread and dates.
Raised $57.22 by collecting coins for Feed The Children.
Raised $66 for Unicef through a Haunted House.
Learned about hunger and causes/cures through "The
Smartie Game" and making Stone Soup.
Helped Global Club with recycling.
Other School activities:
$6500 was raised by staff through lunch and auction for
our school secretary's family when she was severely hurt in a car accident.
$950 was raised for Cancer research through the Terry
Fox Walk.
Staff raised funds for Breast cancer research
during the pink ribbon walk.
$850 was raised selling Halloween bags for Unicef.
$1200 was raised by Parent Association for Food Bank
through Christmas bazaar.
2000 items were collected for the Center of Hope, a day
time drop in shelter, as a school-wide empathy project.
$894 was raised by Ryan Fougere and friends through the
Water Project, was sent to Haiti to help with disaster relief
$30,000 was raised through Jump Rope For Heart for the Heart and Stroke
research. Our school was the highest earning school in all of Canada! Yahoo!
